What is your hometown?
Redding and the Mount Shasta / Burney Falls area. True Northern California.
My move to Washington makes this the 7th state I've lived in! Other memorable hometowns in my travelling circus include New Orleans, Denver, and Las Vegas.
What was your first job?
When I was 15, I worked at Checkers in Mobile, Alabama- a twin shotgun drive-thru joint for burgers and shakes.
Favorite books?
The Bible, The Count of Monte Cristo, and various travel guides- I'm kind-of a geography nut.
One place you would like to travel right now?
I really want to go to London and Wembley Stadium for the 1st time ever in October to cheer on my favorite sports team- the San Francisco 49ers. (Sorry Seattle!)
What was your first car?
A 1993 Ford Escort I affectionately named "The Black Cheese Wagon"
What was the first concert you attended?
I honestly can't remember...maybe Amy Grant? Music really wasn't important to me until I went to college. The first concert that really sticks in my mind was seeing Third Eye Blind on Halloween.
First celebrity crush?
Jessica Simpson, who is still considered my "white rabbit" of missed celebrity encounters from radio stations past. Maybe I won't miss her this time in Seattle and we can just magically elope...
Too much? Well, my current crush on Warm 106.9 is Sarah McLachlan. My romantic dream is for her to sing at my future wedding.
Favorite food?
I always tell people my favorites are Italian pastas and BBQ meats, but after a recent audit of my big burrito purchases from Taco Time and Qdoba- I must concede to Mexican.
Name one song that's in "Recently played" on your iTunes
"Airplanes" performed by B.o.B. featuring Hayley Williams from Paramore.
Hot Tub Time Machine on DVD. I give it almost a solid B rating for the wild concept, along with scene-stealer Craig Robinson! No spoiler alerts here, but 80's fans beware...fountain of youth icon John Cusak doesn't look 23 anymore...
What makes you laugh?
Great TV sitcoms and comedy shows:
Almost Live, Frasier, Just Shoot Me, Wipeout, Man vs. Food, Psych, and The Big Bang Theory.
People watching at karaoke...and I sing too!
The Woodland Park Zoo meerkats.
Great stories and jokes, so feel free to call me with yours toll-free at 1-800-622-1069!
Cats or dogs?
Big cat supporter here, although we do fall in the minority! But c'mon- cats just know where to go- right? Medium hair dogs are great, but no little canines the size of my arm, please!
Latest accomplishment?
I'm the newest broadcaster in Seattle- on-air here at Warm 106.9! And I get to follow in the footsteps of my TV sitcom idol- Doctor Frasier Crane.
What are your top 5 favorite artists of all-time?
Now that's a loaded question, as I've listed about 150 of my "favorites" on my Facebook page! My top five favorite artists on Warm 106.9 right now are:
-U2
-Daughtry
-Lady Antebellum
-Sarah McLachlan
-Rob Thomas & Matchbox 20
Where did you get started in radio? Your first radio job?
I started volunteering as a college freshman at WEGL 91.1FM on the campus of Auburn University in the fall of 1997. My first radio job was a year later, producing shows and turning nobs for Sunday morning church service broadcasts on WAUD AM1230. Man, those were some long and early shifts after college Saturday nights- especially on football weekends!
Playing sports- including ice hockey, golf, and indoor soccer.
Attending live concerts, sporting events, and Seattle nightlife.
Snowboarding, Camping, and Off-Roading
And listening to the radio- it's how I enjoy bringing work home with me!
What is the funniest thing that ever happened to you while you were on the air?
The second funniest thing that happened was at a live appearance in Northern Colorado. I was on the microphone live on location at a carnival for a station similar to Warm 106.9. As I'm up in front of a huge crowd thanking various sponsors, I say "we'd also like to...spank, whoa- I mean thank..." The crowd went wild, and I went red!!!
The funniest thing involves live sports radio, team nicknames out of context, and lots of laughs- but you're gonna have to call or email me about that one!
What was your favorite celebrity interview experience?
At KWNR in Las Vegas...Billy Ray Cyrus- hands down! The "achy breaky heart" guy was the coolest performer to hang out with backstage, and even recruited us for his next video at the time...think home videos while wearing mullet wigs!
Describe a family tradition that you have.
Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday, and ever since I was little I'd crawl and sleep under the Christmas tree the night of the 24th. Of course, the thought was I would be the first to greet Santa and all my gifts overnight, but every year I would magically wake up on Christmas morning in my own bed!
Even now, many years later, I still make it underneath the decorated tree in my home...even if just for a moment to rekindle that Holiday Spirit.
